CATQuest is a search engine that provides information about, and access to a wide variety of materials from the UVM Libraries and beyond.

To search the Library Catalog using CATQuest:

1) Click on the link to CATQuest on the top red bar on the library home page; then select Library Catalog from the CATQuest pull-down menu.

2) For full search capabilities, select: Advanced Search

Search tips using Advanced Search:

  1. Make sure "Library Catalog" is selected in the Search pull-down menu (bottom right).

  2. To search by topic:
    • focus and narrow your search by combining concepts - one concept on each line - an AND is assumed between lines
    • Use an asterisk *  to truncate: ex: coloniz* retrieves: colonize, colonized, colonizing, colonization, etc.
    • search phrases in quotes, or by selecting "phrase" from the pull-down menu that defaults to "contains"
