Journal Clubs
For journal clubs, the library can provide article location support as well as knowledge about critical appraisal.
"A systematic review attempts to identify, appraise, and synthesize all the empirical evidence that meets pre-specified eligibility criteria to answer a given research question. Researchers conducting systematic reviews use explicit methods aimed at minimizing bias, in order to produce more reliable findings that can be used to inform decision making."
Citation management (sometimes called reference management software or reference tools) allow users to curate their own collection of materials, organize them and then cite them in manuscripts or media. It is most useful for streamlining the process of writing a paper with properly formatted citations, but has many other benefits as well, such as having a place to put all of your PDFs of important journal articles. Contact a librarian for assistance with citation management.
UVM supports 3 tools that can help you to track research information, take notes, collaborate with classmates and colleagues, prepare manuscripts and more.
