Image Collections

Some of the Library's eBook collection licenses allow educational use of images found within the included eBooks.

The links in Hardin MD's directory are annotated to indicate the presence of pictures.

HEAL is a searchable and browsable database of "over 2,000 [digital] images, audio clips and video clips. Educators and clinicians contribute their images and multimedia items so that they will me more readily available to other health science educators.

"To coordinate distribution while ensuring that proper licenses, permissions, and copyright protections are fully documented and respected, the NIH sponsors a centralized image service for the dissemination of primarily scientific, biomedical, and disease related imagery. Photos of NIH leadership, labs, buildings, and major historical events are also available."

PHIL welcomes use of their material for reference, teaching, presentation, and public health messages. The content is organized into categories by people, place, and science, and is presented as single images, image sets, and multimedia files.

Open-i service of the National Library of Medicine enables search and retrieval of abstracts and images (including charts, graphs, clinical images, etc.) from the open source literature, and biomedical image collections. Searching may be done using text queries as well as query images.
