Use Patent Public Search to search for, and view, black and white documents for all plant patents (1931-present). Plant patents issued 1976-present can be searched by names and keywords, but plant patents issued 1931-1976 can only be searched by PLT classification or document number. Images are displayed in a patent's PDF version.

Use Patent Center to search for, and view, color documents of plant patents issued from 2006 onwards. Note: Patent Center requires searching by document number. Color images can be accessed in a patent's "Supplemental Content" section.

Use the University of Maryland's color images database to search for, and view, color scans of USPTO prints. Coverage is more extensive than the NYPL or OCR collections, but has some gaps, mostly among PP8000-PP8999.

Use the NYPL Index to search and view color scans of plant patent documents from April 17, 2012-present. These color scans are for preliminary searching only and cannot be relied on for final prior art or other legal searches.
