Any newly-invented asexually reproduced variety of plant, other than a tuber propagated plant or a plant found in an uncultivated state, is eligible for a plant patent. This includes cultivated sports, mutants, hybrids, and newly found seedlings.
The UVM PTRC has a collection of full-color documents of plant patents dating from 1996 to 2023. This collection is located on the ground floor of the Howe Library, in the Government Information area.
