Opera scores, both full and in piano-vocal reduction, can be found by searching CATQuest or the Classic Library Catalog. Scores are also available via the International Music Score Library Project Web site (www.imslp.org) and other online sources, e.g. the Digital Mozart Edition.
To find CDs in the library, use the Complete List of CDs on the Media Resources Web site. The list allows you to search by title, composer, and performer.
You can also use the Classic Library Catalog and CATQuest to find opera CDs, as well as scores. Search by title, as if it were a book; or by a composer's last name; or by keyword.
Apart from attending an actual staged performance, watching opera on video is a great way to experience the grandeur and artistry of opera.
Opera videos, in both DVD (videodisc) and VHS (videocassette) formats, are kept in Media Resources on the Ground Floor of Bailey-Howe Library. You can search the collection with the updated Complete List of DVDs.
You can also use the Classic Library Catalog and CATQuest to find opera videos, as well as scores. Search by title, as if it were a book; or by a composer's last name; or by keyword. Use the following keywords depending on the format of the recording you want:
