A comprehensive index to the journal literature in the broad field of anthropology and archaeology and related disciplines including art history, economics, folklore, linguistics, psychology, and religious studies. Coverage: Late 19th century to present. Combines holdings of Harvard University's anthropology library and holdings of the Museum of Mankind Library (U.K.).

Provides full text access to journals published by the American Anthropological Association, including American Anthropologist, American Ethnologist, Medical Anthropology Quarterly,and much more. Premier online resource that supports the research, teaching, and professional needs of anthropologists.
Google Scholar This link opens in a new window
This resource provides access to scholarly literature including articles, theses, books, abstracts, court opinions, technical reports, patents and many other document types. Google Scholar's coverage is extremely broad and sometimes more up-to-date than other databases - but its non-selective coverage may include lower-quality publications.

JSTOR This link opens in a new window
This resource is a searchable multidisciplinary database of the full content of archival issues of scholarly journals. Issues published within the last 3-5 years are generally not covered. It also provides citations to books and pamphlets provided by JSTOR in digital format.
Social Sciences Full Text This link opens in a new window
An interdisciplinary index to journal articles from international, English-language periodicals in sociology, anthropology, geography, economics, political science, and law. Coverage: 1983 - present with abstracts beginning in 1994.

An interdisciplinary index to scholarly journal articles, with abstracts. It is a citation index which allows for citation searching and incorporates the Arts and Humanities Citation Index, the Science Citation Index, and the Social Science Citation Index. Coverage: 1982 - present.

Anthropological Fieldwork Online This link opens in a new window
This resource provides access to digitized primary documents from the original fieldwork of seminal anthropologists in the early 20th century, including Bronislaw Malinowski, Victor and Edith Turner, Max Gluckman, Raymond Firth, Ruth Benedict, Charles Seligman and Edith Durham. This is an excellent resource for students and scholars studying the history and development of the field of anthropology. This free resource comprises citations for biomedical literature from MEDLINE, life science journals, and online books. PubMed citations and abstracts include the fields of biomedicine and health, covering portions of the life sciences, behavioral sciences, chemical sciences, and bioengineering. This resource is developed and maintained by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) at the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM).

Using Google Scholar from off campus

The easiest and recommended way to access library subscription journal articles directly from Google Scholar is to access Google Scholar from the link to it that the library provides -- either from this library research guide (Finding articles) or from the "Research databases" list on the Howe Library home page (click on the green button called: Research databases.)
