About Resident 360

Why use this resource? Resident 360 is a portal for residents, sponsored by the New England Journal of Medicine. It is designed to provide new and future residents with information and support. It includes refreshers for each specialty, including procedure videos and curated background articles and current clinical trials. It also includes podcasts, career guidance, and discussion groups with other residents.

Create an Account and Unlock the Content

You must create an account with Resident 360 and associate that account with UVM's subscription in order to "unlock" the content. There is currently an issue with doing this through EZproxy that requires some extra steps as shown below.

Once you've been unlocked, you're all set. In the future, you can access https://resident360.nejm.org/ however you like (via Google or whatever) and it will remember that you've been unlocked. You won't need to be on our network or sign in with our proxy.

Because part of the sign-up process doesn't work through EZproxy and another part requires EZproxy, you will need to use two different URLs. We hope this is temporary, and will update these instructions as things change.

  1. Go to https://resident360.nejm.org/ and click on Create Account. It will give multiple options (Facebook, Google, etc.). I've only tried the "create account via Email" but the others will probably work too. Fill out the form to create the account.

  2. Be sure to complete your profile: job title and employer are required fields on this step. You can leave the rest of the profile blank. This step does seem to be important. If you're using the social media login options, the process may be slightly different but I think you still need to complete the profile before you can "unlock" the content.

  3. Check your e-mail for a link to activate the account.

  4. If you are on the UVM network or are using the VPN, it should tell you that you have unlocked the content, but maybe you'll get something to click on to do so. If you see this, you're all done and can skip the rest of these steps.

  5. Otherwise, go to https://login.ezproxy.uvm.edu/login?url=https://resident360.nejm.org/. If you get a login screen asking for your UVM NetID and password, go ahead and log in. (If you're coming from UVMMC, you shouldn't see that screen and won't need to log in.)

  6. Now you should be back on the Resident 360 page like you started with. It may recognize you because you just created an account. If not, click Unlock Rotation Prep, click Sign in, and sign in with your new Resident 360 account.

  7. It should tell you that you have unlocked the content, but maybe you'll get something to click on to do so.

Troubleshooting: If you don't get the message (or option) about being unlocked:

  • If you are not on the UVM network or using the VPN, check the URL. Does it start with https://resident360-nejm-org.ezproxy.uvm.edu? That's how it knows to make the connection between your Resident 360 account and UVM's subscription. If you don't see that .ezproxy.uvm.edu go back and try the link in step 3 again.
  • If you are using the VPN, make sure that you are on sslvpn2.uvm.edu/full.
  • If you still have trouble, let us know.
