Debate Team: A Library Research Guide (Morgan-Parmett)

Keeping Current on the News

Reading the news can be one of the most useful things you can do to prepare for debate, as many of the topics that we debate come straight out of the week’s headlines. You should be reading the news daily. Below are sources that you should consider reading everyday—choose 2-3 sources from different regions that offer different perspectives, and others that you should consider reading every other week. Varying your news sources and comparing how sources cover different issues is an important way of preparing yourself to debate a multitude of issues from a variety of perspectives.
