When searching for articles using UVM article databases, watch for this icon:

Use this button to help you:

  1. link directly to the article, or
  2. link to the journal's homepage, or
  3. determine whether the library has that journal and year in print format, or
  4. link to a search of the Library Catalog to see if we own the journal, or
  5. link to an interlibrary loan (ILL) form

Search Tips

  • Truncation is *    (e.g., religio* -> religion, religions, religious, etc.).
  • Limit by Language to English.

When Viewing Your Search Results:

  • Look at the citation; note the Subjects for the article. These are the standard terms used in the database to describe an idea. If one or more of your search terms is in the Subjects field, re-run your search and limit that search term to the Subject Terms field. This will focus your search.
  • If you retrieve a large number of results, it may be that your search is too broad. Try the suggestion listed above. Also, try adding another search term to narrow your focus.

Tip!

The Library does Not own every journal-or book-accessed through these databases. Use  Interlibrary Loan (free!) to request books, and copies of articles or book chapters needed.
