Using the CATQuest Dropdown Menu

"CATQuest" –  includes journal articles, books, movies, reviews,  digitized photographs, and other materials from the UVM Libraries and beyond. 

"UVM Libraries"  – includes books, movies, journal titles (but not journal articles), and other materials from UVM Libraries online and print collections.

"UVM Libraries -Library Catalog"  – includes books, movies, and journal titles in the UVM Libraries online and print collections. Does not include historical materials from the Center for Digital Initiatives, citations from newspaper indexes, nor Vermont Newspaper images.

 CatQuest Tips

Use a * after the root of a word to find variations on a term.
Example: adolescen* AND anxiety    -   Finds "adolescents," "adolescence," or "adolescent."

Use the filters that appear on the lefthand side of the page after your first search.

If you are searching for articles, click on the "Recommendations" tab to get suggestions for other relevant articles.

Finding Books & DVDs

Use CATQuest to search for books, DVDs, and other material owned by UVM.  CatQuest will also search journal articles, reviews, and online reference materials owned by UVM. 

Use WorldCat to broaden your search by searching for materials owned by other libraries

Use interlibrary loan to get a copy of a book or article that UVM does not own.

Find a Book Chapter

Use Google Book Search to identify edited books that contain a chapter on your topic. To obtain the book, click on Get this book in print (includes online books) in the left column, and select Find in a library. Check to see if UVM owns it, or order the book through interlibrary loan
