Books reviews can provide you with a useful critical analysis of a book and can help you to understand the place of book in the literature on a subject. Most history databases include book reviews and review essays that review one or more books.

The easiest way to search for book reviews is to search for the title of the book in the title of the article. In many databases you can also limit your search to book reviews.

Historiographical Essays

You can locate historiographical essays by adding the term "historiography" within the subject of a broad search in either America History and Life or Historical Abstracts.
