Why use this resource?  Searchable database of full-length or excerpted criticism of works in all literary genres and biographical information about significant writers worldwide who died between 1800-1899. Presents a range of modern and historical views on writers and their works.

What's in this resource? Full-length and excerpted English-language literary criticism from books, magazines, literary reviews, newspapers, and scholarly journals; biographical profiles; for each entry, a chronological list of the writer's major works and a list of further reading; work overviews (e.g., Uncle Tom's Cabin); topic overviews (e.g., the governess in nineteenth-century literature).
