Why use this resource?  This resource is a portal to information about significant writers (and selected filmmakers) worldwide and their works, from all eras and genres. Included are: literary criticism; biographical essays; book reviews; overviews of literary topics; work overviews (plots, themes, characters); definitions of literary terms from Merriam-Webster's Encyclopedia of Literature.

What's in this resource? Full-length or excerpted articles and book reviews from scholarly journals and magazines, book chapters, and reference books. Full-text of poems and short stories published in contemporary journals and magazines. Links to editorially selected websites on authors and their works.
